WFMW : The Birthday Edition
I have to say I am quite new to the birthday party throwing scene, so i am going to try my best to help some of you out! I have thrown many bridal showers & baby showers, but my oldest son being 3 years old, and his birthday in November, I have mostly held his parties at other places.
Here are some idea's from all the parties I have thrown which all will hold true for birthdays!
* If you do not want to make your own birthday cake but don't want to spend a lot of money on a cake your local Sams Club, Costco or BJ's have Amazing cakes for Amazing prices & they have tons of themes, you can add the persons' photo onto the cake, or pick a round cake a regular sheet cake, or large sheet cake.. The large feeds about 80 if i remember correctly.
* If you need to have a party somewhere other than home try a buffet style place. They all have a "back room" and all the food is included including desert and drinks and table wear.
*Favors.... I have came up with many great favors... Some baby showers (can also be used for birthday's) I made my own gel candles and had sticker labels made, A tiny bamboo plant in a tin can, There are many many many great gifts you can use as favors at Oriental Trading. If you have not yet dabbled into their online store or free catalog, you have to!!! They have things from birthday themes, to favors, to every kind of party, beads, crafts, games, pool fun, & scrap booking!
*I have not been able to make my own cards since i lost the program i had on my computer, so what i have been doing is buying those boxes filled with cards for every occasion, sorting them, and now i always have a card for a special occasion! It is not always easy to run out to the store every time an occasion or event comes up with 2 small children. This has been a life savor!
*Pot Luck!!! If you are having a big party, and people offer to make something, let them!! It is so much work hosting a large party that you should take the help people offer!~
I know this may not be very creative, but these are the things that have helped me big time while throwing parties. I have gathered so much from everyone who has participated that I now have soooo many things to make my boys birthdays so much more special, and i can not wait to dabble into all of the ideas!!!
If you haven't yet checked out all these great ideas please head over to Rocks In My Dryer to check them out~!!
